The most consumed fruits in the USA

This table shows the most eaten fruits in the USA. Data are taken from the USDA ERS Food Availability (Per Capita) Data System and the  Agricultural Research Service National Agricultural Library.

For each fruit, two types of availability data are displayed; fresh weight per person, and total weight per person.

Fresh weight measures the amount of fruit available as an unprocessed fresh fruit serving, and is adjusted for the parts of harvested fruit which are not edible.

Total weight measures the availability of a fruit in all forms (e.g. fresh, frozen, dried, juiced, etc.) The weight given is the fresh-fruit equivalent. For example, if it takes 10 pounds of oranges to produce one quart of orange juice, each quart of orange juice available in the USA will be recorded as 10 lb under the total availability column.

You can find out more about the data presented in this table at the most consumed foods page. There you can also download this data in a variety of formats.

This table shows data for 2010, the latest statistics available. It measures availability for a one-year period. You can adjust the ordering of the table by clicking on the title of each column.
